The Central Penn Knights men's soccer team opened the season with a 3-3 draw against NCAA DIII opponent Valley Forge University. Under the direction of Coach Doug Fisher, the undermanned Knights would not quit in the 90 degree heat. It was the first game of the season for both teams.
The Knights started the scoring on a pass from Dylan Kleintop, which was finished off by Taylor Martin. Minutes later, Andrew Day scored a goal, on a through ball from Kleintop. The Knights went into halftime up 2-0. In the second half, the tables were turned. The Patriots scored two quick goals, before quickly adding a third, to take a 3-2 lead.
Moments after going down, the Knights bounced back on a counterattack led by Kyle Stauffer, before being finished off by Kyle Vargas.
The Knights look forward to their next game against Penn State Mont Alto, on Saturday, Sept. 1, at Adams Ricci Park. The Lady Knights will kick off at 3 p.m. with the men following right after. GO KNIGHTS!
