The Lady Knights won their season opener 4-1 against Penn State Mont Alto, on four goals by sophomore Wislene Verna, on Saturday at Adams Ricci Park.
Central got the scoring started when Wislene Verna knocked one in after a pass from Kylan Krammes. Moments later, Mont Alto tied the game, but the Knights were not to be outdone. Again, Verna scored the goal to take the lead on a pass from Krammes. The Knights led at halftime 2-1.
“I told the girls to continue working hard and keep pushing forward,” said Head Coach Ubaldo Murillo. “Also, to be careful overcommitting to the ball, so they can maintain the defense.”
Entering the second half, the Knights were determined to keep scoring. Verna, scored again, but this time she dribbled around multiple defenders before taking a shot at goal, and scoring. Later in the game, Verna scored for final time on a through ball from Maddie Gleason.
