Tyree Tucker Sets New Game Points Record
By Murray Ruggiero, Student Reporter
On Tuesday, Feb. 14, Tyree Tucker, a senior on the Central Penn College Knights basketball team broke the school record for most points scored during a game, since the college's entrance into the USCAA. Tucker scored 53 points, was 19-33 shooting and 8-16 from behind the three-point line.
Tucker is now averaging 21.2 points per game which leads the Knights basketball team and ranks 14th in USCAA Division II.
"Having a great game like this is an example for players out there who are/wereunderrated and overlooked by big name schools or divisions that no matter what your situation is, you hold the key to your own legacy,” says Tucker. “You get in return the work that you set forth, and it was only a matter of time until I had a great game by scoring 53 points. I owe it all to my teammates and coaches for believing in me."
The Knights defeated the Christendom Crusaders 124-59 and improved to an overall record of 23-7 (23-2 against non-NCAA Division I opponents).
The Knights have two games left this season. The first one is on Thursday, Feb. 16, when they will take on NCAA Division III opponent University of Valley Forge before ending the regular season against USCAA opponent SUNY Delhi on Saturday, Feb. 18. Upon completion of the regular season, the Knights will wait to hear their name on bid day (Feb. 21) as they look to compete for the USCAA national championship–again.
