Robert Lewis
Bio

Coach Robert Lewis Sr. is a dedicated basketball mentor and leader with over 12 years of coaching experience developing young athletes on and off the court. A Class of 1998 alumnus of J. P. McCaskey High School, Coach Lewis has built a reputation for teaching the game with passion, discipline, and purpose.

Coach Lewis currently serves as Director and Coach of the East Coast Prep AAU program, where he has spent the past seven years helping athletes maximize their potential through player development, competitive preparation, and mentorship. He also spent four years coaching with Sideline Cancer, continuing his commitment to guiding players at a high level while making a positive impact through basketball.

In addition to his AAU experience, Coach Lewis serves as a freshman boys basketball coach at J. P. McCaskey High School. Throughout his coaching career, he has worked with boys and girls ages 10–17, focusing not only on skill development, but also on teaching leadership, accountability, communication, and life skills that extend beyond the court. He is also a certified USA Basketball licensed coach.

Coach Lewis’ coaching philosophy centers around playing fast in transition, pushing the pace, and executing a structured half-court motion offense when needed. He believes strongly in creating a team-first culture where players trust one another, communicate openly and respectfully, and celebrate each other’s success. His program emphasizes selflessness, commitment, and unity — always reminding players that the name on the front of the jersey is more important than the name on the back.
