Coach Grubesky’s nomination:
I am nominating one of our team captains, A'Nia Lalic, for Female Student Athlete of the Month for September.
This season, A'Nia has picked up where she left off from her excellent rookie season at Central Penn. She has not only defended well as a starting center back, but she has also scored three goals at key points in the match during our two wins so far this season.
Against Trinity Washington University, an NCAA D-III opponent, she scored to give our team a 2-0 lead. The second goal was instrumental in giving her team a boost going into halftime.
At our away match at Manor College, she scored that all-important first goal of the game by hitting a perfectly placed direct free kick to give our team an early lead in the match. Later in the game, ANia earned a brace by finding a way to get forward into the attack. She was able to get around several Manor defenders and score a goal to seal the victory for our team.
On the defensive side, A'Nia Lalic has shown why she was an ESAC First Team All-Conference selection last year by her superb play anchoring the Lady Knight’s backline again this year.
Coach Grubesky said, “I am pleased to nominate A'Nia for this award as she is most deserving of this recognition for her overall efforts on the field during our three matches in September. She has stepped up as one of our team leaders this season.”
Coach Grubesky added, “our coaching staff wholeheartedly recommends A'Nia Lalic for the September Female Student Athlete of the Month recognition.”
Congratulations, A'Nia! Go Knights!
